New Kings Democrats members have endorsed Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani for NYC mayor in the 2025 general election!

Typically NKD doesn’t make endorsements in the general election — as a Democratic club we don't need to take a vote to support Democrats against Republicans. But the circumstances of this election are unusual: There are two former Democrats running as independents, and our primary endorsement of Zohran was as part of our first ever multi-candidate endorsement, so it makes sense to clarify who we're supporting in the general.

Another reason we’re making this endorsement announcement is because some Democratic leaders and institutions have been slow to express support for the Democratic nominee, despite Zohran winning more primary votes than any other candidate in NYC history.

We call on all Democrats to unite behind the overwhelming choice of New York City Democratic voters, and the vision of a more affordable, inclusive city.

We also call on the leadership of the Brooklyn Democratic Party—who did not all support Assemblymember Mamdani in the primary campaign—to demonstrate our party’s unity, strength, and commitment by giving the full membership of the Kings County Democratic County Committee the opportunity to officially endorse our party’s nominee for mayor at our September County Committee meeting.
