New Kings Democrats Endorse Four Candidates for Mayor in First Ever Multi-Candidate Endorsement

Brad Lander, Zohran Mamdani, Zellnor Myrie, and Jessica Ramos

NKD is excited to announce our endorsement of four candidates for Mayor of New York City in the 2025 Democratic primary: State Senator Zellnor Myrie, State Assembly Member Zohran Mamdani, NYC Comptroller Brad Lander, and State Senator Jessica Ramos.

This is the first time the club has endorsed multiple candidates in a ranked-choice election. Club members voted to institute a multi-candidate strategy after analysis from the Working Families Party showed the failure by progressive candidates to pursue a coalitional, ranked-choice strategy in 2021 was decisive in Eric Adams’ razor-thin victory.

"Ranked choice voting is powerful because you don’t have to guess which candidate has the best chance of winning — you can rank all the candidates who have a positive vision for NYC," said Tony Melone, NKD President. "If voters rank Lander, Mamdani, Myrie, and Ramos, and don’t rank failed leaders like Eric Adams and Andrew Cuomo, then our city will finally turn the page on corruption and mismanagement. It’s our job to make sure voters know they have many great options in this election, and a coalition strategy is the best way to do that."

The endorsement follows a multi-step process including candidate questionnaires, interviews, and a vote by NKD's general membership. Endorsed candidates all received the support of at least two-thirds of voting NKD members.
