NKD members are baffled and disturbed by the hiring of Andy Marte as Executive Director of the Brooklyn Democratic Party. As reported in The City, Marte was recently a registered Republican and supporter of Donald Trump's campaign, and used his platform to share conspiracy theories. Worse, when he was a Democrat he continued to support former party boss Vito Lopez after substantiated sexual harassment allegations forced Lopez out of the Assembly.

Marte was campaign manager for Lopez's last campaign, which was audited for mishandling more than $55,000 in matching funds. If our party were more open to grassroots participation, we are confident they could find staff with a better track record than this.
