October is NKD Committee Work Month (No Meeting)

As the 2017 general election approaches and we close the books on another election cycle, NKD's committees are already digging into planning mode for 2018. To get us all started on the right foot, we are replacing October's general meeting with an invitation for everyone to get involved in New Kings Democrats' Committee Work Month!

Take a look at what we've got cooking over the next few weeks, and jump on in!

On the calendar:

Wednesday, October 18th: Constitutional Convention Policy Subcommittee meeting. 7p-9p at Cherry Tree.

Thursday, October 26th: Pre-Halloween Happy Hour. 6p-9p at R Bar in Williamsburg.

Monday, October 30th: Save the date for WNYC's People's Guide to Power series event on machine politics and political participation at the Flushing Library in Queens at 7pm. Brandon and Anusha, along with our reform allies in other boroughs, will be speaking. The event is free, register to attend!

Wednesday, November 1st: Policy Committee meeting. 6:30p-8:30p at the Douglass.

Thursday, November 2nd: Organizing Committee meeting. 6:30p-8:30p. Email Yaneth for more details.

Tuesday, November 7th: GO VOTE, duh.

Other work happening:

Running for NKD Executive Committee! Somehow, 2017 is quickly coming to a close, which means that Executive Committee elections are right around the corner. There are going to be a bunch of open seats for 2018. Think you'd like to learn about taking on a more structured role (or know someone who should jump in)? Email Sara to get a conversation going.

Vision Subcommittee meeting: Interested in helping to develop an affirmative vision of the Brooklyn Democratic Party? Email Brandon to learn more.

County Committee reform: Interested in continuing to work on county committee rules changes? Email Brandon to join the conversation on the Policy Committee's slack channel.

NKD's 2017 Annual Report: Let's put it together! Writing and interviewing will be a particularly useful ways to help. Want to write content, or volunteer in other ways such as managing the structure, working on layout, front end dev, or photo editing? Have your own ideas? Email Ryan to get involved.
